Impervious
graphite is a traditional material selected for its high conductivity,
chemical resistance and  good
mechanical properties, specially treated with synthetic resins
to ensure that the base structure is fully impervious to liquids
under pressure. The excellent performance and properties of
graphite make it very useful as an engineering material for
a wide range of heat transfer and chemical process equipment.
Graphite forms no compounds due to corrosion, no protective
surface films as do many metals, which depend on their protective
oxide films for their corrosion scale build-up.
